An Addictive Splurt of Red Wine

‘Pop’ The Reggae Top Off A New Bottle of “Red Red Wine”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (03/01/10) - It's not easy to find the perfect bottle of red wine. In fact, it's rare to discover one with Jamaican overtones and a distinct reggae aroma. However, that is exactly what happened in 2009 when Swedish-American artist Splurt teamed up with manager Donovan Thomas at Wyclef Jean's Platinum Sounds Studios in New York City. It was in that studio where Splurt's unique stylistic blend of reggae, hip hop and electro music caught the attention of the Fugees member Pras Michel. “Red Red Wine” was about to get a brand new bottle, and become more addicting than ever.

Splurt explains, “Pras heard me and freaked out. He asked me to do a track with his new group, The Axixs. We chose ‘Red Red Wine’ because it was a reggae classic that we felt needed an update.” In the end, the single has become much more than an update. Normally the older wine is the better wine. In this case, the brand new bottle is the better choice. It's an addictive Splurt of “Red Red Wine” that will 'pop' the reggae top off previous renditions.

The history of “Red Red Wine” doesn't originate with the UB40 hit. In actuality the song was initially written and recorded by Neil Diamond in 1968, and then first covered a year later by reggae artist Tony Tribe. Successfully covering a song is not an easy thing to do. However, Splurt has found a way to accomplish the task. Even before the single’s release to radio, Splurt's edition was already gleaning potent comments and reviews by industry pros. Pras Michel told Splurt directly, “I could have done this track, but there's nobody in your lane that can chat Jamaican like you.” Music business manager Bert Padell has even chimed in, “He took this classic track and made it sound authentically Caribbean…I blasted it all over my office. It is hard to take such a classic and do it justice, and that's what was done here"

The expected success of Splurt's new single won't be his first taste of musical achievement. He has spent time in Europe - previously signed to EMI/Finland. In addition, he scored a top-twenty hit and video award for "The Drum and The Bass.” Splurt quickly followed that feat with an impressive performance at the music video awards in Finland in 2001. Born in New Jersey to a Swedish mother, Splurt holds dual citizenship and is also fluent in Jamaican. A totally unique artist, he has made it easy to find the perfect blend of red wine. Don't leave the ‘cover’ on this cover. 'Pop' the Reggae top off a new bottle of Splurt’s “Red Red Wine.”

Chapter II feat. Natalie Chandra

The Story Of Swiss Rock Band Chapter II

A great book is made up of well written chapters and pages. In this case, Chapter II has seven “pages” that make the perfect “chapter.” However, this is not a book - this is a band. The seven “pages” of this “chapter” are all professional musicians bound together with talent and creativity to form the bookends to the new Swiss rock band, Chapter II.

The story of Chapter II begins with a trip back in time to a rock cover band named Time Bandits. It was in this cover band in 2003 that guitarist and bassist James Ender met drummer Freddy Wiederkehr and sound engineer Peter Krattiger. The experiences these three professionals would share while performing with Time Bandits was vitally important. Ender explains, “The three of us developing our relationships and talents would be integral to the formation of Chapter II later on. Each of us brought something to the table, especially the technical expertise of Peter.”

By 2007, Ender, Wiederkehr and Krattiger had evolved beyond Time Bandits and began to experiment with new styles and compositions. In early 2008, the three took a new direction and a new name; Chapter II. “We thought the name reflected the fact that this would be the second chapter of our careers as professional musicians,” says Ender. Initially, Chapter II was an instrumental and studio-only band with a styled mix of classic rock, symphonic rock and folk. The compositions had hints of Metallica and Guns N’ Roses blended with influences from Finnish metal band Nightwish and the symphonic sounds of German medieval band Inextremo.

Chapter II continued to evolve in 2009 as the band began to lay demos in the studio for their debut album. They added additional experienced musicians with the same passion and professionalism for music. These members were Jürg Burkhard on keyboard who was from the well-known duet Piano Twins. Also they tapped the skills of guitarist Thomas Kesenheimer who had in depth experience both on stage and in the studio. Urs Haller, the gifted bassist from Time Bandits was also brought in as the band formed.

It seemed the “pages” of Chapter II were almost complete, but they were missing one central part – a vocalist. The band members began a search for the perfect lead singer for their unique style. They needed the final seventh “page” to complete the Chapter II lineup. It wasn’t easy to task to find a match but their search would pay off. In February, 2009 they discovered the talents of Natalie Chandra, who was already a well accomplished vocalist. Natalie would be an essential addition to the band, bringing with her the talents of operatic-range vocals and lyric writing skills.

In early 2009, with all seven “pages” of Chapter II in place, it was time to realize the goal of the first studio album, entitled Angel Face. Containing twelve original tracks with lyrics written by Chandra, Angel Face displayed a plethora of styles forged into one. The album was a multi-faceted musical milieu that reflected the synergy of each member’s musical input. Angel Face was a full fury of blazing hard rock sounds. It was filled with the thunderous collisions of orchestral compositions, hooky synthesizer melodies and throbbing and pulsating bass lines. With the addition of Chandra’s physically powerful vocals and Joan Jett/Patt Benatar style, Angel Face became a twelve track aural assault of filled with shock and awe.

Chapter II began live performances in August of 2009 in support of the Angel Face release in November, 2009. The positive reviews followed quickly. “On Angel Face the rock comes fast and furious as blasts of roaring guitars punctuate swirls of synthesizer in an all-out attack of goth-influenced and hook-filled hard rock.” - RadioIndy.com Angel Face continued the musical assault with awards and recognition as well, featuring Chapter II as Artist of the Week on Sellaband.com in April, 2009. Recognition for the singles off the album were apparent when Platinum Auddy Awards were given on Uplaya.com for four of the band’s singles; “Sulphur Anemia,” “Stop Looking Away,” “Sometimes,” and “Scorned.”

The seven “pages” in Chapter II have only just begun their journey with their first album. Their tour dates continue to increase as new fans discover their unique sound. All of the members are highly motivated when performing their compositions live, and they enjoy spending time with each other on the road. Ender states, “Each gig has is a profound moment in itself … each performance brings all of us closer together, both musically and creatively.” The fans definitely can feel the power and energy from the live sets, and all the band members live to rock it out on stage. “It’s easy, we just can’t be without rock n’ roll, and we live for the energy when we connect with the audience,” says Ender.

Chapter II looks forward to their sophomore release in 2011 and continued gigs and live sets. The band may be new, but all of these band members are seasoned veterans, total pros whom have spent over twenty years perfecting their craft. Pressed between the seven pages of Chapter II is more than just the rise of a new Swiss rock band. It’s a rise of a new sound, a new style, they are “writing the book” on pushing the creative limits of rock. Within these well-versed seven “pages” you will discover Chapter II, the latest chapter in a future best seller. Don’t judge a book by the cover, judge it by the pages and chapters within. In this case, the musical book that is Chapter II does not disappoint… just turn the page, for the story of this Swiss rock band has only just begun. There is much more music to be written for this talented group of artists.

Swirl

Press
Release:

In Mukilteo, Washington, brothers Duane and Brian Jones (DT and Bam-Bam, respectively) started the group Swirl. They released a CD, toured the United States and even went to Japan in the late 90’s into the early 2000’s. In 2004 Fred Coury remixed songs from their first CD. With the insertion of band members Al Ramirez (lead singer) and Sane Carlson (bass) in 2008, the group finally had their ducks in a row and began their quest to deliver their music to the masses.

Swirl’s new single, “Adrenaline”, which features Cinderella drummer Fred Coury, is off of their new CD, “Timeline”. This CD is a compilation of music produced by either Fred Coury, Carlos Cavazo or Matt Thorr. The master was mixed by Fred Coury. According to Swirl, the meaning behind this particular song has to do with standing up for what you believe in – not giving up and going for what you want in the face of those who put road blocks in front of you. To me it’s staying the course, staying focused and not giving an inch in any other direction but the road you have carved out for yourself. Indeed, this group has quite a determination and a sound that captures that emotion. In fact, the entire CD has an array of emotion. There is no set mood or tone to these songs. With every song, there is a personal experience that backs it up. You can feel those stories right through your very core.

Swirl is the new rock of age. They surpass the bands from earlier decades and have created a new look and sound for today’s rock music. Their songs are crisp and full of emotion. They are also catchy tunes with sustainability. They are full of radio friendly tunes, thick with rhythmic movements and hooks - need I say more? My personal interpretation of these songs are a plethora of sensations and dynamic high lights that need to be experienced by each one of us.

You can have than experience, too. This new CD has been released both digitally and physically. You can also listen to earlier works such as “Out of Nowhere”, written and released in 1999.

Between October 23, 2008 and November 22, 2009, Swirl has performed over 70 shows with either Slaughter, Stephen Pearcy, Britny Fox, Bullet Boys, RATT, Extreme, Pat Travers, L.A. Guns or Souls of We. They have performed in almost every state of our union and have been endorsed by companies such as Charvel Guitars, Jackson Guitars, Mesa Engineering, Seymour Duncan, Spectraflex, Excetelyne, Spector, Yamaha, Super Naturals, Dean Markley Strings, Furman Sound and Pickboy. They will continue to tour to promote this and upcoming projects.

Swirl is currently working with A & R Select in West Hollywood, Ca. for either a record deal, publishing, licensing and/or placement opportunities. If you are in need of additional information please contact A & R at:

NEVERDIE

NEVERDIE

Biography:
In August of 2007, Stuff Magazine listed the 30 most powerful people in entertainment under 30. Naturally, Justin Timberlake was #1 and then 29-year-old John Mayer was somewhere below that. Just behind Perez Hilton at #28 was Neverdie, the only avatar on the list, the Elvis of virtual reality who holds court over the Club Neverdie, the most famous (and highest grossing) virtual nightclub in the world.

A worldwide sensation that’s been visited by over 700,000 users and generates a quarter of a million dollars a year, Club Neverdie is also the #1 online asteroid hangout and the top venue for live entertainment in Entropia Universe. One visit to www.realityport.com will allow curiosity seekers to delve into a realm that attracts thousands every day to spectacular nightclub VIP rooms; disco hunting and mining biodomes; 1000 apartments for storage and entertaining your friends; a virtual shopping mall with the coolest clothes and gear for your avatar community; and live events every weekend.

At Club Neverdie, the party never stops—and neither does the music. Neverdie is the avatar of multi-talented singer/songwriter John Jacobs, who has created his debut album No Rock uN Rolled as a musical platform for the virtual community that crosses numerous exciting musical boundaries. Working with with producer Paul Inder (son of Lemmy from the iconic metal band Motorhead), Neverdie blends—over the course of 14 instantly compelling tracks--classic rock and blues influences with elements of techno, electronica, dance, trance and techno.

The trippy blues/rock/electronica track “New Vu Blues” perfectly captures the essence of the world of Neverdie, with lyrics that could be applied to a romantic relationship but are actually referring to the agony and excitement that happens among inhabitants in a virtual world like Club Neverdie when they are slammed by the makers of a game with a “version update.” No Rock uN Rolled also features special appearances by two very special real life women in Neverdie’s life—his late fiancée Tina Lieu, who added sultry vocals to the jangly organic folk-rocker “Devil’s Daughter,” and his wife Cheri London, who sings soulful lead with Neverdie on the dance-rock jam that asks “Can You Reach The Button?” and the groovin’ dance floor/electronica gem about the avatar’s immortality, “Neverdie.” A true pop/rock diva, Cheri London’s credits include tracks with Roisin Murphy, Missy Elliot and Timbaland.

Five years ago, Jacobs, who is also an independent actor/filmmaker, came up with the concept of doing a hybrid album that combined his love for classic 50’s rock with techno music. His first composition, the dense, beat-filled techno-rocker “Elvis Porno” was licensed by top European DJ Junior Jack. The Elvis-Euro connection continued for Jacobs when he used a Spankox remix of Elvis’ song “Baby Let’s Play House” in his indie film “Hey DJ,” which featured some of Europe’s top jocks. Jacobs’ Youtube video for the track earned The King his first ever digital #1 hit in Italy, as “Baby Let’s Play House” topped the country’s iTunes download chart.

Around the same time, Jacobs/Neverdie wrote the whimsical, sensual yet edgy rock/electronica track “Gamer Chick” when his girlfriend hijacked his video game. He sent it off to the developer of the online game (Entropia Universe) and the song quickly became part of the game’s soundtrack for players worldwide. Inspired by these incredible initial responses, Jacobs continued to develop the musical side of his avatar Neverdie. In addition to being available for purchase on iTunes, tracks from No Rock uN Rolled are offered as a prizes inside the virtual world of Entropia Universe to those who kill three monsters on his “asteroid.”

TONE 7

TONE 7

Biography:
Biography

Neo-soul group Tone 7 has conjured their debut album Tonality, infusing a line-up of seasoned musicians, resulting in an ultimate mix of musical styles from what music critics are calling “musicians’ musicians.”

Lead guitarist Bobby Cobb was chosen as the opening act, not once, but twice, for Bob Marley and The Wailers. After having been approached by the late reggae legend and his wife, and spending time conversing with Marley, Cobb says that he ultimately became speechless. “I remember it distinctly,” he recalls. “I was on the far side of stage right, and Marley came up to me, and started talking to me. When it got to the point when he said, ‘I really like your band, I really like your playing,’ I was so blown away, I forgot my guitar stand, and I just left it there on stage.” Listening to Cobb’s guitar work on Tonality, it is easy to see why Marley was impressed.

The 7’s lead vocalist, Tony “The Tone” Jackson, is no stranger to the spotlight. A longtime performer, at age nine, he appeared in guest roles on television shows, including The Brady Bunch and The Mod Squad. Even before hip hop became a mainstream commodity, used to promote corporate products, Jackson and hip hop icon Afrika Bambaata joined forces to appear in a Nescafe commercial together, possibly the first television commercial to feature such artists. Profoundly influenced by Michael Jackson, Tone went on to pursue his musical destination that became Tonality.

Armed with yet a second lead and rhythm guitarist, Neil Stallings, it again becomes clear this band is comprised of studio quality musicians. Stallings’ rich blues history includes having shared the stage with artists like B. B. King, Freddy King, Albert Collins, Big Mama Thornton and other legends. Stallings has served as the opening act for countless artists, including B.B. King, Freddy King, Johnny Winter, and The Chambers Brothers. He has also played on stage with the likes of Sly Stone. Yet all of these artists are only a partial list.

Most recently, drummer Thomas “Thunderfoot” Mason has played for headlining artists in the Las Vegas area, at venues including the Flamingo and John Ascuaga’s Nugget, and a bevy of other notable venues throughout the western half of the United States.

Keyboardist Will Hammond started his career when he was very young, as a staffer at Fantasy Records (John Fogerty, Credence Clearwater Revival). His uncle is jazz legend Eddie Hammond, who played at the Champagne Supper Club in the Fillmore District during its heyday, where artists including Billie Holliday, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, John Coltraine, and others dropped in for jam sessions. Hammond’s uncle is pictured in Harlem Of The West, a book about the musically historic club. Will, himself, has opened up for artists including Jeffrey Osborne.

Together, with much-sought after bassist, Stephen Smith, the band has created Tonality, neo-soul, interlaced with a rich variety of styles, ranging from soul, rock, jazz to R&B.

Formed in the Bay Area, the band’s lyrics reflect depth, insight and hope. It would be impossible for the album not to. Between gigs, Tone works as a professor of psychology, using his PHD in the treatment of anger management and depression. His insight gained through his experience of treating both inpatient and outpatient drug abusers, coupled with his involvement in social activism, makes him a true Renaissance man, and this resonates through his music throughout the album.

Cobb says of Tone’s vocals, “He never wastes a note. I have never seen him sing a note just to put it out there.”

Black rock and roll is alive and well, as evidenced by the album’s track “Revolutionary Eyes,” which combines heavy metal with soul. When it comes to a song about seeing the world with eyes that question authority, what better mix of genres? The late Marvin Gaye’s social commentary through soul music opened up the country’s eyes by opening up the people’s ears. Heavy metal shouts just as loudly. Together, they unite to incite.

Such musical expressionism translates messages throughout the album. The opening track, “Chicago Streets,” could have been written about any city. Despite his present success musically and otherwise, Tone grew up in gang-ridden O.G. Crip territory, in the area of 89th and Vermont in South Central Los Angeles, home of the Bounty Hunters. Tony was surrounded by the first generation of Crips, before there were even Bloods. Even Stanley “Tookey” Williams was a part of Tone’s neighborhood. Williams was executed by the State of California in 2005, a fate that was protested by a large number of people including Snoop Dogg. A biographical TV-movie entitled Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story was made in 2004, featuring Jamie Foxx as Williams. The night of his execution, Tone and folk musician Joan Baez spoke there in protest.

Despite his surroundings, Tone made a decision to not get caught up in the mayhem surrounding him. John Singleton’s Academy Award winning film “Boys In The Hood was our story,” explains Tone. “I was supposed to be with my buddy Mike, but I had to play a basketball game that night. My brother Zeke was going to go with me. I went to school right in the heart of Hoover Crips, Mt. Carmel High School, which is now defunct, at 70th and Hoover. At the game, I was on the bench. I heard sirens and ambulances, and little did I know, that ambulance was responding to a gunshot victim who had died, and the victim was Mike, one of my best friends. It was a difficult time for us; we wanted revenge, and everything else.” Ironically, Tone’s brother, Ezekiel X Jackson, was chosen by Singleton to do security on the set of the film. His brother Zeke now manages Tone 7.

With album highlights including “Maybe I,” “Tell Me,” and the thoughtful track “Ballot Or The Gun,” Tone 7 hits the perfect note. A heartfelt album, with the music to back it up, Tonality will have Tone 7’s fans listening to its songs, over and over.

SINK TO SEE: Straightforward Rock ’n’ Roll

By David Tobin 10.26.09

It’s the simplicity in music that makes it the most effective. When you’re dealing with rock, it needs to be raw and unfiltered. It needs to have some passion and a hook. When you start to add more to the equation, it strays away from its roots and no longer can be classified as just rock and roll.

Sink to See has done this once again. Their first album had the makings of something special, but it wasn’t until their latest, 2012, that the band came together to bring something solid to the music world.

Dony West, lead guitarist, had similar feelings about the new release: “We grew in the process of this record. 2012 is about the end of the world, and we took home that feeling and put it into music. This album is more introspective. We thought about the lyrics a lot more.”

The new songs offer insight to daily life and mimic the band’s own will to get through to the masses on their own terms. Focusing on their online presence and ways to actually interact with their fans is a big part of what has garnered the growing buzz around this act.

Bassist Shawn Bathe put the online campaign into focus: “You reach listeners on a first person basis now, that’s very valuable. We exist virtually 24/7 when, in actuality, we are only interacting ‘live’ a small portion of time.”

West adds, “Online presence is the face of your band these days, you don’t have to tour Russia to reach your fans.”

Not only is this band using the Internet in more ways than conventionally thought, they are also being heard in commercials for Nissan and TV shows on networks like Bravo.
