JOHN NICOLE RELEASES NEW CD: ‘BREATHING YOU”

John Nicole’s new album, “Breathing You,” (www.JohnNicoleMusic.com) is what one reviewer describes as an eclectic journey into the fertile imagination of a musical artist heavily influenced by the musical experimentation of the Sixties.

Blues, rock, pop, ballads, country and electronic genres are all represented on Nicole’s new album. And surprisingly, according to reviewer Allen Sale, the album “hangs together quite well.” One listener explains in a review on Amazon.com that he was “constantly surprised with every song. Just when we thought we had his music figured out, we'd hear something we didn't expect.” Reviewer and Internet DJ Zack Daggy describes Nicole’s voice as “charismatic with a nearly-Bono quality.” Reviewer Jamie Anderson describes his voice as “low and pleasing like Kenny Rogers.”

One song on the album seems to have caught the attention of a number of reviewers: Happy Life. According to Daggy, "Happy Life is a mind-blowing and utterly amazing song that deserves to be on the airwaves, the silver screen and everyone’s media player. The vocals soar to incredible heights and the deeply moving lyrics easily make this not only the best song off of this album, but also quite possibly one of the best songs of the year!"

Heavily influenced by musical artists like Moby, David Byrne and The Beatles, Nicole’s songs comprise a rich array of instrumentation such as a string quartet, flute, saxophone, piano and electric guitar. And while 15 of the 17 songs are original, Nicole also covers two classic songs from the Sixties: Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying and Somebody To Love.

Nicole began work on “Breathing You” last year after he was laid off from his job which ended his 30+ year career as a marketing executive for a number of companies including AT&T. After a full-year of searching for another marketing position, Nicole says he is now gambling everything he owns for the chance to make a living out of his passion for creating music.

“I’ll never be a rock star at my age (62),” Nicole said, “but after living a life of dramatic ups and downs, my musical recollection and interpretation of the past 50 years seems to appeal to a wide variety of listeners.” As a result, his international fan base continues to grow daily since the release of the album.

Nicole’s zest for producing music keeps him busy in his custom-built studio inside a small apartment located in Highlands, NJ. He’s already mixing songs for his next album and has created a new outlet for new music called the Original Music Factory (www.OriginalMusicfactory.com) where he created a new theme song for CNN’s “Rise & Shine with Robin Meade.”   One song on the album seems to have caught the attention of a number of reviewers: Happy Life. According to Daggy, "Happy Life is a mind-blowing and utterly amazing song that deserves to be on the airwaves, the silver screen and everyone’s media play

Martina Gustavsen - Melting A Winter's Heart

MEMPHIS TN (IFS) --  Martina Gustavsen, a 42 year old school teacher by day, and a hard working  piano bar entertainer by evening's end, and a resident of Byglandsfjord, Norway.

Her influences are too many to name, so here is just a couple  of  Influences: Herbie Hancock, Joe Satriani, Assaulter - Australia,Pain of Salvation, Tommy Vitaly, SARKOM, BreeD, Randy Rhoads, Emerson Lake And Palmer, In Flames(Official), HORNS UP, Betray The Emissary, Jaco Pastorius, Tony Levin, Prashant Aswani, Stone Sour, Gogo, Dimebag Darrell, Cannibal Corpse,Atom Strange - Music, Dirty Dealers, Spock's Beard, SlipKnot,Keith Flint, Linkin Park, Amorphead, Tom Brislin, Xavier Moyano,Gentle Giant, Luca Milieri, , Hasse Fröberg and the Musical Companion, DEATH BECOMES YOU, Allan Holdsworth, Core Effect, Necromanteion, Den Saakaldte, Oden Young and Jimi Hendrix. Martina started playing the piano at the tender age of seven years old and played her first concert a very short time later.

Martina enjoys listening and playing along with heavy metal bands, yet as an accomplished classical pianist, she loves venturing out side above the envelope of just "playing" a piece for the sake of entertainment.  I am not sure if Martina had to work for anyone to pay for lessons, one day, we will have to ask her.  As every child knows, if you are in love with the piano, it shows in your playing at a very young age.  If the piano is forced upon you, that passion is also manifested into the playing, with hard and hurried timing, like a person, trying to finish up fast and get out of there.

But a child who is in love, usually must be pulled off of the instrument and told to go outside for a breathe of fresh air.  And so, that I find in the tones and the feeling of Ms. Gustavsen's playing for the moment after a breath of fresh air, when she is playing this wonderful piece, "Melting A Winter's Heart". - KDTN Radio One

Biography: Brett Cohen is all over the news as he punked out times square as a celebrity. His youtube video has over 3 million hits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYU1a0lTTTw. The below hit the press today and is blowing up all over the world

Who is Brett Cohen?
Brett Cohen released a you tube video last week that has gone viral and is slated to make the round ot talk shows this week. Brett Cohen is also a very talented musician.

Brett Cohen is also a musician and a songwriter with a new release, I Just Want to Get You Home.
Who is Brett Cohen? A fellow by the name of Brett Cohen released a YouTube video that has gone viral. Since the release of the video, Brett has appeared on Good Morning America and is slated to appear on many more talk shows this week.

Did you know Brett Cohen is a very talented musician? Brett writes, sings, and performs.
Normal guy, Brett Cohen punked a bunch of Times Square tourists recently when he hired a crew of cameramen, bodyguards and assistants to follow him around 42nd Street and pretended to be someone special. It worked!

People thought he was famous and tried to get his autograph or have him pose for a picture. Brett dressed up like a typical celebrity and was accompanied by an entourage of two professional bodyguards, two assistants, and photographers pretending to be paparazzi. While the assistants and photographers waited for Brett to exit the 49th street marquee at NBC Studios, they started a buzz that a big star was about to walk out, thus making it worth their while to wait and get a picture. Many asked the crew whom Brett was and no answer was given. They were forced to either make something up, or just take a picture with him in hopes that their Facebook friends or Twitter followers might have a better idea.

How many Brett Cohens are there in the US alone? Many, for sure.

Now, the real question: Who is this Brett Cohen and is this the same Brett Cohen who punked out the world last week? Watch and listen to I Just Want to Get You Home and you decide. Is this the same Brett Cohen and is he a real ladies man that just want to get you home?

ALTERNATIVE BLUES ROCK ARTIST JOHN SULLIVAN SIGNS WITH MAJOR MANAGEMENT FIRM HUNT TALENT MANAGEMENT AND DEBUTS ALBUM, “LONESOME MAN”

Warner Bros Records/Mercury/EMI producer/consultant and Los Angeles based management company team to break out artist John Sullivan who is bringing heart and soul back to music.

Los Angeles, CA - June 18, 2012 Jackson, Mississippi native John Sullivan has been signed by Hunt Talent Management in Beverly Hills, CA. Sullivan has just seen the worldwide release of his first, full-length album entitled “Lonesome Man” which is already gaining international attention and global requests for interviews. The album is available on iTunes and Amazon as well as other major online retailers.

Stripped down, raw and unplugged, the album has a unique, devil blues sound that reflects the hurt and pain within us all. “John’s music immediately pulls you in and most people will all too easily identify with his words. The lyrics and melodies stay with you long after you’ve finished listening to the tracks. John is an unusually gifted artist who will only grow in his craft in the years to come,” says manager Italia Gandolfo.

Sullivan also just launched his new website www.johnsullivanmusic.com to rave reviews.

"The tone of the music is surreal, beautiful, brash, melodic, razor-sharp and heavy all at the same time. The lyrics are all too familiarly human and cut to the bone as the stories unfold and wind through my arrangements,” says Sullivan. “We felt we were onto something and decided to record demos of “Lonesome Man” and “For the Soul I Sold” stripped down bare, with only my vocals and acoustic guitar. They weren’t perfect recordings or heavily produced performances, but there was such a pure element and honesty to the music and stories being told that we decided to create an entire album this way. There are songs about love, regret, war and redemption. I believe that they’re songs anyone in the world can relate to. The heart of this album is just a man, his guitar and his voice. That and my co-writer Robert Trent’s true-to-life lyrics are what make this project so special. So much of the human element within music has gotten lost in all of the effects and convenience that digital technology provides. This album lives and breathes. In many of the recordings, you can hear wind chimes, crickets chirping, rustling trees and many other sounds that are all so familiar here in Mississippi which, in my opinion, help to further surround the listener with the spirit of the blues that still runs wild down this way.”

“With songs that reflect the lives and experiences of everyday people, John Sullivan’s unique new voice will cut through the endless static on radio and internet and grab the attention of all who hear it. As a songwriter and professional with over twenty years in the radio and music industries, I know a stand-out when I hear it. John Sullivan is the real deal.” –Sean Barrette, Songwriter, TV and Radio Host, Communications professional www.seanbarrette.ca

"John Sullivan has a grit and power in his vocals that conveys the true pain and sorrow of the common man, and chronicles the struggle for many just to survive in our world today. His raw acoustic style on tracks like "The Bottle Is Empty" and "How's It Gonna End" show just how emotional and connected John is to his music.” –Steve Sahlein, Music & Media Producer (Disney, VH1, MTV, Fuse Network, HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, CBS, TNT, Warner Bros Records, Mercury, EMI, Touchstone Pictures etc.) http://primaryentertainment.com/

“It's hard to find good music nowadays. But what I just heard leaves me thinking I'd no question buy John’s album. Very emotional, meaningful, spiritual, and raw. It's as if the guitar is his feelings and the lyrics are him getting his feelings out. He expresses thoughts through his guitar, the lyrics add to his pain and this is how it all comes out. I can hear it on radio in North America, the UK and Australia etc. I see this guy being huge!!!!” -David Tuccaro, Top 1000 DJs in the world, Music Producer, Music Engineer

Sullivan concludes, “I’m in no way a flawless singer or guitar player, but I believe that the Good Lord blessed me with a gift to move people with my music. That’s my hope for this album…that it makes people feel, makes them think, inspires them and, most importantly, helps them realize that there are still guys like me out there who aren’t afraid to pour their souls into their art for the right reasons.”

JOHN SULLIVAN BIO
John Sullivan is an artist from Jackson, Mississippi. He lost his mom when he was only 10-years old. Soon thereafter, he taught himself to play guitar in hopes of finding a form of therapy that would help vent the anger and confusion something that traumatic brings to a child’s life. John’s influences range from Hank Sr., Cash, Jennings, CCR, Elvis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Clapton, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nirvana and Staind to the great bluesmen from his home state such as B.B. King and Robert Johnson. Growing up, John would lock himself in his room for hours on end seeking a way to make his own unique imprint on the music world. He learned to burn like Hendrix, scream like Kurt and tell a story like Cash. Through intense study of his heroes’ styles, an otherworldly imagination and a prodigal affinity for his instrument, John created a guitar and vocal sound that is one of a kind. A few years ago he began collaborating with songwriter Robert Trent, and since then they’ve been assembling a quality rarely seen in mainstream music anymore.

Reno Blues Say "No" To Bobby Haynes Blues Group

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Has The Reno Blues Society Lost their Collective Minds?

HOLLYWOOD / RENO (IFS) - It appears that the Reno Blues Society has decided to "pass" on the endorsement and venue setting for the Bobby Haynes Blues Band and with internationally renown pianoist Ray Johnson.

Reno Blues Society vice president, Bill Nagel was given a practice DVD of the groups rehearsal at Hollywood's famed AF of M Local 47 Hall, ( currently available at youtube.com/scorpiontelevision) of the duo having a quick show rehearsal fr the cameras of HOTRAX Productions' R G Ingersoll who also happened to produce the one and only very successful Cambria / San Simeon tribute concert to Nat "King" Cole.

Ingersoll stated early, that he believes that this is "just a research error on the part of the Reno Blues Society team" and that he believes it will be "ironed out" in time. These fantastic musicians together have played on over 100 - Number One recordings, when most singers, songwriters and artists just dream of getting one "hit record".

Ingersoll who is no stranger to success as in his former Motwn Records days, he helped to create and package many of the labels acts for television, concerts and state fairs. His expertise as a songwriter isn't lost either as his catalog has been purchased from EMI Music by Sony Music.

Ingersoll, has stated that he will still need the Reno Blues Society to help sell tickets and with promotions, as Mr. Nagel pushed the project down the road to Harrah's Show rooms in Tahoe, when in fact, Ingersoll just wanted the Grand Concert Room at the Grand Sierra Hotel.

It's not quite clear where the communications' broke down, or if the endorsement of the "Real Blues" is a little to much to handle. What the heck, what can two eighty year old men do, they have just completed tours wwith the American idol Party and a set at the Kennedy Center Honorrs to boot.

The video uploaded by Ingersoll to youtube.com/scopriontelevision for the engineers in Reno to setup their equipment, but this little video clip has become one of the most requested clips in sdctv history after the Reno Blues Society "dismissed" this duo. The Local Hollywood blues community musicians in Los Angeles consider this as a "back handed slap".

We will never know what RBS were "thinking" as they have broken off all talks with Ingersoll. This is not to say that there is a real battle of the "Blues Guitar Strings" in Reno, as the best act in town for the Blues is Jason King Band who the RBS endorsed and sponsored in the Memphis Blues Concerts Playoffs this past month.

Jason King sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughn for two nights in a row.

Ray Johnson, known as the Nat "King" Cole of Japan, has just finished several recordings with some of American Idol finalists among others. Johnson's last studio CD was in 2000 with his Ray Johnson Country that is still a big seller at his other night gig at the Universal Hilton Piano Bar, as he greets and entertain many of his friends and fans who have come in from Asia on vacation here in California.

It's for sure that what one person calls the Blues and what another's perception of the Blues are two different types of Blues Power. Reno is not ready to hear the real Blues, yet. But don't let two old blues men show what the real blues can prdocue when played live in equal amounts in Reno. For the moment, this little "missunderstanding" could remain as such and the RBS works with HOTRAX to produce the concert. Are will RBS vice president let opportunity slide out of his fingers, when we know that opportunity only knocks once.
