Vitne Releases “Make Believe” Single Details

Vitne’s latest songs “Make Believe” and “Lost & Found” expand on his introspective melodic hard rock sound.

On January 17th, 2017, Vitne will release his brand new single “Make Believe” featuring the b-side song “Lost & Found.” The title track showcases Vitne’s ability to hook the listener almost immediately with irresistible melodies and strong vocals, developing into an introspective, atmospheric hard rock anthem. “Lost & Found” is another hooky hard rock track with heavy punk influence, a remixed version of Vitne’s 2015 single of the same name. Both tracks feature the lead guitar work of glam metal guitarist Julian Angel, wrapped up in a fantastic mix and master by Crematory’s Rolf Munkes.

As a composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist, the former SEKS and HART frontman has largely left his glam-metal past behind, save for the evident influence it has had on his songwriting. “I love great glam and hair-metal, but as a solo artist, I am not constrained one specific thing,” states Vitne. “That freedom is liberating. And ultimately, that is the theme of this single: Liberation from one’s self-limiting habits.” In terms of sound and style, both songs exhibit hints of Vitne’s primary musical influences like Gackt, Billy Idol, X Japan and Winger.

“Make Believe” will be Vitne’s first release of 2017, coming off two single releases in 2016, “Masquerade” and “Lion,” with the former earning him two award nominations by the 2016 IMEA Awards. It also marks Vitne’s first release on Patreon. Through Patreon, Vitne offers an array of patron-only exclusive bonus material including original demos, pre-mixes, hand-signed lyrics and behind-the-scenes videos during the making of the songs.

Vitne’s “Make Believe” will be available worldwide on January 17th, 2017.

Vitne is a solo rock artist located in Norway, playing a type of 80s-influenced Melodic Rock with a progressive, slightly gothic lean. Weaving together elements of glam metal, Japanese rock, punk and even RPG soundtrack music, Vitne creates a personal style of hard rock complemented by the addition of flute on many of his songs.

During his time as frontman for the Norwegian glam metal band SEKS, Vitne met hair-metal guitarist Julian Angel of Beautiful Beast, leading to their on-going collaboration. The combination of Julian’s first-class guitar solos and Vitne’s punkish vocals has led to their camaraderie being likened to that of Billy Idol and Steve Stevens.

EXTENDED BIOGRAPHY

Born Joseph “Jo” Kimbrell in Charleston, SC USA, he relocated to Norway in 2010 and adopted the name Vitne (meaning “witness” in the Norwegian language), starting his solo career after his band activities were put on hold. Vitne has gone on to embrace Creative Commons, becoming one of the few hard rock artists of his type to release all his music under the Creative Commons (CC-BY) license.

Vitne’s debut album Neon earned him critical acclaim from music critics, with SleazeRoxx saying “Think of Vitne and Julian Angel’s relationship like a modern-day incarnation of Billy Idol and Steve Stevens….” His follow-up EP Endless Blue continued that legacy with fans calling it a “little EP with a lot of heart,” as well as music critics proclaiming “His vocals are intoxicating and the music is like a drug…” (VENTS Magazine) and “…thank you for those few moments in your company which reminded me that sometimes the world is a fabulous place” (Metal-Impact).

In 2016, Vitne's single "Masquerade" earned him nominations by the IMEA Awards for "Rock Artist of the Year" as well as "Rock Song of the Year."

“I want my music to have a soul, to have feeling and atmosphere. A personal quality I suppose you could say. My songs aren’t intended to be pop hits, and I don’t do fillers. Every song has a purpose, no matter it’s length.”

A multi-instrumentalist, Vitne sings and plays guitar, bass, flute and some piano. His flute work reminds the listener of his love for Jethro Tull most notably heard in his latest works. Vitne casually pursues an acting career as well, having been an actor in multiple music videos, an extra in the Hollywood feature film Dear John, as well as an actor in multiple episodes of the Norwegian TV series Hotel Cæsar.

An avid language learner, Vitne speaks both English and Norwegian, and is actively learning Japanese.

Vitne recently released his 11th single "Lion" in October of 2016, and his upcoming single "Make Believe" will be released worldwide on January 17th, 2017.

Jeffrey

Born in New Jersey and now calling New York home, singer songwriter Jeffrey is equally at home writing music or on stage performing.

This acoustic style of music is new to this former cabaret performer who has performed at most of the New York cabaret venues. “ I have always been drawn to this acoustic style of music and it wasn’t until I studied to play guitar that I started to write my own music.”

Jeffrey will release his songs as they are completed versus waiting for the entire project to be finished. “Feelings and emotions are changing, as are my songs. I want them to be genuine. I don’t want a final date to dictate when the music is ready”.

Announcing New Album Release: Jeff Gutman “Arrive”

Notes from the Author:
Arrive is an album that was four years in the making. It spans multiple genres with songs containing full orchestral scores.

One of the overarching themes of the album deals with how we connect (or fail to connect) to each other in our current technology-driven world. The songs serve as a reminder that the world around us is not how it seems on our smartphone screens, and that we can easily spend so much time connecting online that our virtual life replaces our real one. The songs are a reflection of our modern world and all of its overly-connected yet somehow disconnected feelings.

The title track "Arrive" is a call to arms, an invitation to travel the world and see it for yourself. You can't know the world as it really looks through a screen. All around the world, people are waiting there for you to arrive. Other songs on the album include the ragtime influenced "Walking Along in the Rain" where the smartphone users are so enraptured looking down that they walk right into poles. Another song "I'm Not Really There" features a narrator who spends so much time posting about where they are that they never really experience the place. These two songs juxtapose modern tech-driven themes with ragtime, one of the oldest American music styles. Other songs such as "The Only One I Know" deal with a character whose only connection to the outside world is a barista with which he falsely believes he's in a relationship.

Recording sessions for the album began in San Leandro, CA during mid-2012 under the working title "Modern Problems". My daughter had just been born prior to recording, so I had to lay down the tracks sporadically in the evenings while she slept. After taking all of 2013 off from recording, the sessions resumed in 2014, with all the instruments being recorded in intricate layers. I had used orchestral scores previously in other film and video projects, but this was the first time I had applied a full orchestra to my own music giving them a rich, full sound. Intensive mixing and mastering sessions were finally completed in early 2016.

Jeff Gutman is a singer/songwriter from San Francisco. For the last seven years, he has been performing headlining shows at dozens of clubs all over the west coast. Jeff’s songs are powerful statements with memorable stories and melodies.

Jeff released his first album “The Mindfire Tapes” in the Fall of 1999. The album was a collection of experimental songs and sound collages. The album went into second pressing after six months, and Jeff embarked on a tour of the Pacific Northwest. Songs from this album were featured on KUSF in the summer of 2000.

In the fall of 2000, Jeff recorded the controversial “Hellfire Vampire.” The album was totally different from the first in that all of the songs were performed live with no overdubs. The instrumentation was sparse, with only an acoustic guitar and vocals. However, the songs were far from folk material. They were more raw and aggressive than the first album with some shocking subject matter.

In the Spring of 2001, Jeff formed a full group to better accentuate the compositions he was writing. Full of energy and intensity, the Jeff Gutman Band toured the west coast before recording an album in the fall of 2001. The album, “Cold Cold Town”, was tightly produced by Mark Love at Polk Street Studios and released in the summer of 2002. The album was a straight forward rock album filled with complex chord structures and intense rythmns. The songs focus on stories of survival in the city during recent economic decline. The group toured through the summer of 2002, with media coverage from local television
and newspapers.

In the Fall of 2003, the song “You Were On Your Way” was featured on a benefit CD compilation for the AIDS Walk Organization. The album, “Sounds for Hope Vol.1” was designed to feature top acts from the Bay Area. The entire proceeds went towards funding AIDS research and education.

In early 2005, Jeff started recording his fourth album "No Way Back." The album was complex and densely layered, combing multiple genres into each song. Jeff spent many hundreds of hours by himself laying down each track seperately, starting with multiple guitars, pianos, bass and drums and expanding the songs to include a full orchestra and four part vocal harmonies. After two years of work, the album was finally finished and released in December of 2006. Songs from this album were used in independent films and featured on KLLC Alice-97.3 FM in San Francisco.

Jeff first started writing the album “Through the Night” in the summer of 2006. He had a series of music themes and melodies, most of which had come to him in dreams. After he experienced a series of dark and dramatic events in his life, he became very inspired to write words for these songs, finishing them at the pace of one a day. Rather than writing songs that dwelled solely on the more negative aspects of the trauma, he wanted to make an album where the songs when taken together would give a more complete picture showing the highs and lows of an emotional journey. The songs were varied stylistically, taking elements of power pop, acoustic rock and multi-sectional suites alongside with quiet confessional piano songs with full string arrangements. He set about recording the album in March of 2008, layering the songs one instrument at a time. After a series of intensive mixing sessions, the album was ready for release in the summer of 2010.

Skully

Originally from the Philadelphia area (Norristown PA). Skully found himself influenced and inspired by the sound of 90's music. East coast and West coast hip hop was predominant to his musical foundation.

The south had yet to emerge as the powerhouse it is today, other than a few groups such as Outkast and SoSo Def.

At the age of 19, Skully moved south to The Greater Tampa Bay FL area. Immediately upon touching down in Florida Skully was fortunate to link up with a production group who is now known as Grammy award winning producers JUSTICE LEAGUE which allowed him to maintain his lyrical integrity through out the years.

Skully continued to compose music with JUSTICE LEAGUE up until they landed their deal in '06. At that point, Skully found himself back to the drawing board, however with his dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with other individuals who shared his same passions he was able to help form the movement known as Vegaz Boyz.

Skully was inspired by the constant night life and the "All in" lifestyle of "Vegas" as well as those in his inner circle, so what started as an inside joke became a staple in the inner city night scene for the extravagant parties and non stop indulgence.

Now fueled by the energy from his surroundings, Skully began relentlessly recording and was determined to be the voice of his peers.

A spew of recordings eventually caught the attention of GIG Music Group and through negotiations and mutual goals being discovered, Skully made a wise decision to join forces with GIG Music Group to help take his music career to the next level of success.....
