Martina Gustavsen - Melting A Winter's Heart

MEMPHIS TN (IFS) --  Martina Gustavsen, a 42 year old school teacher by day, and a hard working  piano bar entertainer by evening's end, and a resident of Byglandsfjord, Norway.  

Her influences are too many to name, so here is just a couple  of  Influences: Herbie Hancock, Joe Satriani, Assaulter - Australia,Pain of Salvation, Tommy Vitaly, SARKOM, BreeD, Randy Rhoads, Emerson Lake And Palmer, In Flames(Official), HORNS UP, Betray The Emissary, Jaco Pastorius, Tony Levin, Prashant Aswani, Stone Sour, Gogo, Dimebag Darrell, Cannibal Corpse,Atom Strange - Music, Dirty Dealers, Spock's Beard, SlipKnot,Keith Flint, Linkin Park, Amorphead, Tom Brislin, Xavier Moyano,Gentle Giant, Luca Milieri, , Hasse Fröberg and the Musical Companion, DEATH BECOMES YOU, Allan Holdsworth, Core Effect, Necromanteion, Den Saakaldte, Oden Young and Jimi Hendrix. Martina started playing the piano at the tender age of seven years old and played her first concert a very short time later. 

Martina enjoys listening and playing along with heavy metal bands, yet as an accomplished classical pianist, she loves venturing out side above the envelope of just "playing" a piece for the sake of entertainment.  I am not sure if Martina had to work for anyone to pay for lessons, one day, we will have to ask her.  As every child knows, if you are in love with the piano, it shows in your playing at a very young age.  If the piano is forced upon you, that passion is also manifested into the playing, with hard and hurried timing, like a person, trying to finish up fast and get out of there.

But a child who is in love, usually must be pulled off of the instrument and told to go outside for a breathe of fresh air.  And so, that I find in the tones and the feeling of Ms. Gustavsen's playing for the moment after a breath of fresh air, when she is playing this wonderful piece, "Melting A Winter's Heart". - KDTN Radio One
